Description
Early in the academic year, to introduce my students to some of the general basics of poetry analysis, we delve into a wide array of poetry written by rap and hip-hop artists.
In this writing workshop video, I demonstrate for teachers and students how to write an entire literary analysis featuring two poems:
1. Tupac’s “The Rose That Grew From Concrete”
2. Kanye West’s “Divorce”
For both essays, I Bob Ross my instruction and “paint” a number of introductions and bodies while demonstrating how to pull the strings of my templates.
In this lesson, I also showcase my ball of yarn trick – a surefire way to ensure that the line of reasoning stays intact.
