I taught my Sophomores the Literary Sandwhich this week and challenged them to write a paragraph in 25 minutes. They did it and they are GOOD! I asked them their thoughts and this was their response. "I've never written a GOOD paragraph that quick." "It is so easy to follow, and it makes so much more sense." "I've never even written a 10 sentence paragraph in one day!" (This kid wasn't lying. I've had most of these kids for 2 years in a row, and this particular gem is your standard stare at the screen FOREVER "I don't know how to start" kid). And my all time favorite..."that's it? Why didn't you teach this last year?!"

Y’all: if you’re on the fence about this at all, TAKE THE PLUNGE. Kristian’s classes have helped me refine my writing instruction and I will never go back! From providing structure to struggling writers to helping already strong writers find their voice, Kristian’s methods help everyone. Certainly worth the time - especially if you’re willing to try early and implement some of the strategies early!

When Kristian came to my school during one of our professional development days, I said to myself – “well … this is going to be five hours of my life I’ll never get back.” Man was I wrong! At that point in time, I had been teaching eleven years and thought that I had good practices as far as writing instruction went. Nope! He totally opened my eyes to doing things a whole different, more effective way. I was so excited when he launched this course and was quick to purchase it. It’s worth every cent. Kristian is such a huge help and asset. If you want to become a far better writing teacher; this course is where it’s at!

I was hired for my first year of teaching four days before the start of the school year. Literally, apart from student teaching, I had never taught before - yet my principal gave me AP Language. I had no clue what I was doing but luckily found this course just in time. Kristian got me so prepared to teach at a high level. I used his techniques from day one and my students smashed the exam. I went from feeling completely overwhelmed and outmatched to feeling super confident and excited to teach. I could see my students learning right before my eyes and it was so cool to see.

I’m a grizzled veteran of 27 years and have taken away so much from this course. I kind of wish I could start over at year one. This course is a game changer. My AP Literature students said that they felt like I was giving them a “cheat code.” That’s how good these heuristics are. Rookie or seasoned vet, you’ll definitely learn how to become a much better writing instructor from this course.

Kristian’s mind has a nice way of breaking down writing into all of its bit parts. There’s so much our students must do to write well and Kristian nicely lays out a roadmap for the students to follow. I’ve been using his heuristics for the past three years and definitely see big growth in my student writers.

So appreciative of Kristian and his master class. Due to all he showed me, I’m able to kick back and watch the Super Bowl, instead of spending my Sunday night staring at a stack of essays to grade. Anyone teaching in these crazy times and actually wanting to have a life should take his class. Best investment I’ve made in a long time.

I enrolled in Kristian Kuhn's Master Class and I am so glad I did! I now have so many ideas, resources, and support for how I want to tackle term 3. I wanted to share my excitement with all of you because perhaps like me, you are struggling. This is my 12th year of teaching and this is the first year I've felt burnout. However, Kristian has helped me find my passion again. I feel rejuvenated and happy to be teaching during this unique time!

A Masterful Method!

Having learned directly from Mr. Kuhn throughout my junior year of high school, I can easily speak to the strengths and confidence his teaching methods offer students. While writing has always been a passion of mine, it was not until I took Mr. Kuhn's class that I feel I truly learned how to compose a thoughtful and well-rounded piece- a strong representation of his own understanding of the writing process. As I have progressed in my education, I used the syllogistic method when completing the writing portion of the SAT and I look forward to using it once again as I sit for my GRE next month. To gain access to an entire book of Mr. Kuhn's methods is a wonderful opportunity that I believe everyone should take advantage of.

The Key to Professional Writing!

The syllogism is an undeniably effective tool to take writing to a professional standard of depth and complexity. Learning how to write a syllogism took my writing from a public-school standard, cheesy and scripted, to a collegiate level in a matter of months. I had never enjoyed writing previously; I felt like I was writing the same thing every time. With the syllogism on the other hand, I feel like every piece is unique and contains a part of me. This makes writing a fun adventure every time - turning out a product that is appealing to readers. Using the technique, I have aced writing assignments in college without difficulty and am confident in writing applications and cover letters as I enter the adult world.

The Syllogistic Method is a Game Changer!

Mr. Kuhn taught me AP Language Arts during my junior year of high school and I saw a more rapid and dramatic improvement in my writing than I have any year since. On one of the first papers of the year, before the syllogistic method had really sunk in, I got a C- and the word "yikes" written across the back page. Over the course of the year, as we went over examples and learned HOW to write strong, successful papers, the syllogistic method began to come naturally to me. One of the biggest mistakes English teachers (and any other teachers who regularly assign papers) make is grading papers by giving feedback about what the student did wrong instead of how to do it right. Before Mr. Kuhn's class, writing papers felt like guesswork; when I did well, I wasn't sure why I had done well, and when I did poorly, I didn't understand why I had done poorly. The syllogistic method took the guesswork out of writing. There is a clear structure to follow which still leaves ample room for individuality and creativity within the writing process.

There's no better way to write.

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Kuhn as a teacher for two years in high school, and that first year, I fell in love with writing. The Syllogistic Method is an incredibly smart way to write, and Kuhn was able to simplify it enough for kids to really understand WHY it’s powerful, convincing, and flat out the best way to write an essay. The year prior to having Kuhn, I was taught “CEIEI” and I never really grasped it, as I felt it never really flowed right. Mr. Kuhn taught me how to blend the different syllogisms to write an essay that could probably be considered art. The Syllogistic Method can be used with any type of writing, with any subject. I’ve used it throughout college - English, History, Philosophy, Psychology, and many more. I will never write any other way. Thank you, Mr. Kuhn, for being one of the most profound influences in both my educational, and personal lives.
