Description
Teaching students how to sustain a cogent line of reasoning is perhaps one of the more challenging things composition teachers are faced with.
If we could only open up the lids of student’s brains and pour a heavy dose of logical reasoning, we’d be all set.
In this video, I teach students and teachers the foundational elements of LOR though the classic children’s book – If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
The first activity is to have students write their own children’s story whereby they craft it syllogistically. I contend that students can sustain a clear line of reasoning if they create their body paragraphs with the syllogistic construct.
From here, I demonstrate how my students create their LOR with a synthesis paper we are currently working on.
