Description
In this wonky writing workshop, students will simultaneously construct a literary analysis of Shelley’s “Ozymandias” while cobbling together a LEGO man.
As students build each individual aspect of the essay while pulling the strings of my template, they earn a piece of the LEGO man.
At the end of the essay, the idea is that they will have satisfied all aspects of the template, hence having constructed a complete LEGO man.
For example, within the inverted thesis template, if a student anchors their thesis by answering the question: how does the author construct meaning? — they earn the head of the LEGO man.
If they include TIER II level vocabulary and incorporate RULE # 18 into their sentence constructs, they earn the eyes and ears.
Step-by-step … the essay and the LEGO man take shape.
