Gamifying Grammar, Punctuation, Syntax (Mickey Mouse Version)

I’ve acquired quite a bit of gray hair over the past few weeks … lots of grammar, punctuation, syntax errors (STILL!!!) in my student’s writing.

Hence today’s video workshop that spotlights a super fun gamified approach to shore up the basics.

Borrowing heavily from their seminal text, “Write It Right,” Strunk & White teach the fundamentals while I dig deep into my edutainment arsenal.

What I have done is create 50 mentor sentences that are riddled with grammatical errors and completely devoid of punctuation (with a tad bit of wonky syntactical choices).

Split into teams of four … the students need to help Mickey make each sentence perfectly perfect.

This is a very high engagement means to provide students with the necessary foundations of composition.
